CSI

CSI is a hands-on event for young people to try activities which are aspects of various professions, so that they gain an understanding of what that occupation will involve. CSI is held at Youth Arc in the City Hall building It is particularly targeted at young people considering tertiary study and access to the program is by Teacher nomination, with preference being given to Years 10 and 11 students (although Years 9 and 12 are welcome if sufficient places are available).

  • Surveying and Spatial Sciences,
  • Pharmacy,
  • Forensic Science,
  • Sports Science,
  • Industrial Engineering,
  • Meteorology/Hydrology,
  • Human Resources and
  • Microbiology

CSIFeedback collected has revealed some interesting statistics:

68% of students who completed a feedback form enjoyed participating in the day while 28% were neutral.

85% felt that they knew more about the jobs they investigated than they did before the event.

65% of students were neutral when asked if they felt more confident about their career choices, while the remaining percentage was fairly evenly split between those who felt more comfortable and those who did not.

83% of students expressed a desire to come to future CSIs where different professions were showcased.

53% did not have an opinion on whether CSIs should be smaller and held at schools although 33% did not agree with an event size reduction.

35% of students expressed they would like to spend more time looking at other jobs.
